This past semester, my personal project was an exploration of women and their comfort objects. I saw a link between what we choose to surround ourselves with and the peace we have after creating a “nest” of sorts with those objects. Some of those things are practical, some we subconsciously choose, but the repetition of our surroundings creates a comfort inside of us that is visible. Some of these women I knew well and some I didn’t, but I tried to capture their essence or idiosyncrasies in a portrait of them in their nests. I love how these turned out and am grateful these women allowed me into their homes and shared their vulnerability with me. I’d love to continue this project and continue to explore the link and similarities of how we as humans use objects for comfort in proximity.
